digital platform
Definition
- A digital platform is a type of online infrastructure that brings together data and metadata with services and/or tools to enable users to access and interact with the outcomes of academic research. A digital platform should offer at least one type of service or tool that can interact with the data and metadata in order to enable knowledge extraction or production (for example textual analysis or image manipulation). Other characteristics may include the ability for users to exchange information between themselves or with the platform. A digital platform may also include direct access to the data and metadata, in the form of one or more downloadable files, and enable the reuse of its services or tools, however neither are a requisite.
