- Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II Tryphon (c. 184–116 BCE), nicknamed Physcon, was a king of the Ptolemaic Kingdom and the younger son of Ptolemy V and Cleopatra I. His long and turbulent reign was marked by intense political and military conflict with his siblings Ptolemy VI and Cleopatra II, resulting in one of the most unstable periods of the Lagid dynasty
